The Electronics & Communication Engineering program at AVNIET is tailored to equip students with the knowledge and technical expertise to design and implement advanced communication systems. With a focus on real-world applications such as sound event detection in autonomous robots and wearable devices for healthcare, students work on projects that push the boundaries of innovation. The program includes deep learning techniques, biomedical signal processing,antenna propagation and VLSI providing students with the tools to lead in the fields of electronics, telecommunications, and signal processing.
The department of Electronics and Communications Engineering was established in the year 2009 with an intake of 60 students for an Under-graduate program. The intake was enhanced to 120 students in the year 2010. The department also offers a post-graduate program – M.Tech. In VLSI & Embedded systems stream. The UG course was accredited thrice by National Board of Accreditation for 3 years in 2019, 2022 & 2025, NAAC for 5 years in 2023 and UGC AUTONOMOUS for 10 years in 2023.
The department of ECE is headed by Dr. N. Suresh, a compelling personality with a progressive vision, who has 18 years of vast teaching experience. The department has 30dedicated and experienced teaching faculty with 5 Doctorates, 12 are pursuing Ph.D. at reputed universities – NITW, Amrita Vishwa vidya peetham and KLU. Etc. Department has well qualified 6 non-teaching staff. Faculties have received 13 Awards which includes Best Teacher Award, Best Researcher Award, NPTEL Discipline Award and Best IETE student forum (ISF) coordinator Award, etc.
The department has sixteen established laboratories.A total of8 classrooms with strength of 60 students for each class are provided in the department. The department is also equipped with an digital E-classroom & Seminar Hall.
The department has continuous involvement in Research & Development activities in form of submitting research proposals to various funding agencies namely, MODROBS-AICTE, AICTE-ATAL, DST and various other funding agencies in conduction of workshops, Seminar, FDPs & hands on for latest technologies. The faculty and students are regularly encouraged to attend workshops, training programs and internships to get trained themselves on current advancements in the field of electronics. The department has more than 100 publications in various national and international journals and conferences. As a proof of inflating the innovative ideas, the department has10 patents under its banner. The department conducts various technical events to embolden the students through IETE Technical Association. 21 faculty members have IETE Professional Membership, 368 IETE student members, 8 faculty members have ISTE Membership and 4 faculty members have IE membership in the department.
With a vision to uplift and augment the research spirit and innovations among faculty and students, the department has established 3Centre of Excellence namely in Center for Chip Design Sponsored by Ministry of Electronics & information technology and C-DAC (60 Lacks), Robotic and drone technology Sponsored by E-Yantra IIT Bombay& Intelligent internet of things.
The ECE Dept is focused on Teaching Learning Process, Up skilling of the students in latest Technology and work on developing Innovative Projects.
