Dr. M.V. Krishna Rao is currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AVN Institute of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad. He obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He completed his M.Tech in Structural Engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, and his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal.

With more than 36 years of teaching experience and 16 years of research experience, Dr. Rao has 56 technical papers to his credit, published in various National and International journals / conference proceedings. Prior to joining AVN Institute of Engineering & Technology, he served in various academic positions including Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Teaching Assistant at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Hyderabad. He also worked as Teaching Assistant at RVR & JC College of Engineering, Guntur.

Dr. Rao’s areas of specialization include Structural Engineering and Construction Management. His academic interests encompass Concrete Technology, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Prestressed Concrete, Structural Analysis, Finite Element Methods, Theory of Elasticity, Construction Management, Cost Management of Engineering Projects, Matrix Methods, and Numerical Techniques. He has handled a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has been actively involved in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and outcome-based education practices.

 Dr. Rao has guided one Ph.D. scholar and 37 M.Tech dissertations under Osmania University. His research contributions span sustainable construction materials, geopolymer concrete, fiber reinforced concrete, recycled aggregate concrete, self-compacting concrete, seismic analysis of structures, contractor selection methodologies, and construction delay assessment. 

Dr. Rao is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and a Life Member of the Indian Concrete Institute.
